As the summer heats up in Denver, so too do the events around town. From sporting events to arts festivals, the beginning of July in Denver is packed with activities that everyone will enjoy. If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate Independence Day, try hosting a happy hour followed by one of these adventures with your friends or family!

Red Rocks Amphitheater

This year, the amphitheater plays host to Blues Traveler with G. Love & Special Sauce, The Wailers, and The Devon Allman Project with special guest Duane Betts. While you’re grooving all night long to these jam bands, you’ll also be able to enjoy some of the downtown fireworks displays (if the weather is clear enough.0

Fiddler’s Green

Take your entire family to Fiddler’s Green Amphitheater for the Colorado Symphony’s Family Friendly  Fourth of July. Bring a blanket and revel in the talent of the symphony as they play historic patriotic tunes.  Round out your night by sitting back and watching the fireworks.

Hudson Gardens & Event Center

This year, the band Firefall takes the stage on the Fourth of July for Hudson Gardens Independence Day celebration. With hits like “You Are The Woman” and “Just Remember I Love You,” this band is a great choice for those looking for a mellow evening of Boulder soft rock. Stay after the show for a fireworks display.

Independence Eve Fireworks

Every July 3rd, Civic Center Park plays host to the Independence Eve Celebration at 8pm. This party in the park features food, drinks, a concert, and an innovative lighting show on the Denver City and County Building. Seating on the lawn is on a first-come, first-served basis, so bring your lawn chairs and blankets to the park early to snag a spot.

Elitch Gardens

Take the whole family to spend the day at Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park. Ride the Mind Eraser or the Twister 2, play games, and relax in the lazy river before the fireworks show starts at dusk. The park also has a display on the night of the 3rd, so families can attend other 4th of July events.

Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants

This three-game rivalry series begins on July 2nd and culminates in the fireworks performance after the game on July 4th. The display is one of the best in the state, so don’t miss out on your chance to root for the home team and eat some hot dogs while participating in America’s favorite pastime.

Denver Outlaws vs. Boston Cannons

Lacrosse lovers unite! The Mile High tradition continues with the Denver Outlaws’ July 4th game. Tickets are extremely affordable and attendees get treated to an awesome fireworks display alongside visuals on the high-definition screen. Every year, the Outlaws raise the stakes and try something innovative like the skydiving pyrotechnic display that caused UFO rumors a few years ago!

Colorado Rapids vs. Seattle Sounders

The United States didn’t make the World Cup tournament this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some US Soccer! Fans of Team USA can watch 2014 World Cup’s star player, goalie Tim Howard, along with a talented young squad, take on Seattle.

Cherry Creek Arts Festival, July 6th-8th

After a week of fireworks displays and outdoor events, spend the weekend leisurely exploring the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. The festival celebrates visual, performing, and culinary artists from all over Colorado and beyond. From juried exhibitions to the innovative chefs at Culinary Avenue, this free event is a great way to spend the weekend. If you have children, your little ones will love the Artivity Avenue where they can make buttons, paint, write poetry, and so much more. The entire family will have fun watching the aerial performers, actors, and musicians on the Festival’s three performance areas.
